Temporary subsidy of gas grid costs

Following the exceptional increase in gas prices due to the international situation, the government has decided to subsidize the cost of natural gas grids for residential customers from May 1, 2022.

This measure applies automatically, no action is required.

To save even more money, please visit www.energie-spueren.lu for information on how to reduce your gas consumption.

1. What exactly are grid costs?

These are the costs incurred for delivering and distributing the gas to the customer. The grid costs make up part of the total price of the gas supply, which, in addition to the grid costs, is made up of the price of the gas itself, as well as taxes.

2. What steps do I need to take?

This measure is applied automatically, you do not need to take any action.

3. How long will this measure apply?

This measure will apply from 1 May 2022 until 31 December 2022.

4. What is the financial impact of this measure for me?

Since the State will cover the grid costs, the gas price rise will be absorbed. The exact financial impact depends mainly on your consumption.

Due to the current market situation, gas may become more expensive for you despite this measure. In that case, however, the impact will be absorbed by this measure.

5. At what point can I take advantage of this financial benefit? Does this measure affect my advance payments?

It depends on the contract with your gas supplier. In most cases, monthly or bi-monthly advances are used, where suppliers automatically include the financial advantage in the calculations. You will find a detailed listing of the impact of this measure in your annual invoice. Although it may not be directly visible to you, you will benefit from this measure from 1 May 2022.

6. I live in a residential building. What do I have to do?

This measure is also applied automatically to residents of a residential building. You do not need to do anything for it.

If you have any questions, you can contact the building management.
